Another week, another TOTW prediction. Last weekend we missed out on a TOTW prediction due to lack of time, but this week we’re back with the best prediction there is!
Last week saw some absolute beasts in the TOTW during the National Team Break. This week we might not have the same beasts, and it’s actually been hard to predict players, especially defenders since there hasn’t been many defenders scoring goals this weekend. Hopefully we can get the Starting XI right at least!
tropSes prediction for TOTW3!
GOALKEEPERS
Thomas Strakosha, Lazio, GK
Playing Juventus away is one of the hardest tasks there is, especially if you’re playing as a keeper. Strakosha made a very good performance though, making a lot of saves as well as stopping a penalty in the 97th minute to help Lazio win 2-1 – Juventus first loss at home ground in more that two years!
Joe Hart, West Ham, GK
A lot of goalkeepers played very well this weekend, but I throw this one in as a joker. West Ham failed to win at Turf Moor, but Joe Hart made a lot of saves as well as he assisted Michail Antonio’s leading goal in the first half, and since keepers usually don’t bring home a lot of assists, Joe Hart might get a TOTW.
DEFENDERS
Thomas Meunier, Paris SG, RB
Rumors say that a player can’t earn two or more IF cards during the first six weeks of the game since EA wants spread among the IF cards. Otherwise, this would be the most obvious IF card of the week. Meunier scored two goals to help PSG bring the victory home with 2-1, but since he already has an IF card he might miss out on this one – hopefully he won’t since his next card will be a BEAST!
Mamadou Sakho, Crystal Palace, CB
There has been a great lack of well-performing defenders this weekend when it comes to goals and assists, but we think that Sakho might catch an IF card. Crystal Palace won their first game of the season this weekend – against CHELSEA – and also scored their first couple of goals. Besides keeping peace around his own box, Sakho also assisted Wilfried Zaha’s winning goal and should get a fresh new IF card later on today!
Sergio Roberto, Barcelona, RB
Barcelona played Atletico Madrid away in a very tough game where they went down by one goal early on and then struggled to come back into the game. Eventually they managed to equalize through Luis Suarez with the assist provided from Sergio Roberto. This might be enough for an IF due to the lack of scoring defenders in the top tier leagues this weekend.
Andres Tello, Bari, RWB
One of many Tellos in the football world, Andres has his home at Bari in Italy and Calcio B. Tello provided two assists for his team which almost brought them the win before they got robbed in stopping time when their opponents equalized. Perhaps he won himself an IF card instead!
James Tavernier, Rangers, RB
There have been some very dark years for Glasgow Rangers and the rivalry in the Scottish Premier League hasn’t been present for a while. Now, Rangers seem to have climbed almost all the way back, and now they are third in the league. In their game this weekend, two assists were provided from James Tavernier, and Rangers’ first IF card in FIFA18 is a fact!
Tae-Hwan Kim, Sangju Sangmu, RB
There is something about the Asian leagues and scoring RBs. This time, it is the korean right back of Sangju Sangmu whose name is – surpriiise – Kim. Tae-Hwan Kim. He scored two goals in Sangju’s 2-2 draw with Daegu FC, and since he’s the highest scoring defender this weekend, he should get his name in the TOTW5 as well!
MIDFIELDERS
Cyril Thereau, Fiorentina, CAM
The former Chievo-player transfered to Fiorentina this summer and hasn’t made anyone disappointed. This weekend he put in another great performance and his two goals helped Fiorentina to win 2-1 over Udinese.
Nabil Fekir, Lyon, CAM
Fekir has been one of France’s greatest talents for a while but has been in the shadows of Lacazette. Now he stands on his own, and this weekend he made a major show-off when scoring two, assisting another and getting the highest rating in L’Equipe.
Goncalo Guedes, Valencia, LM
Valencia played a thrilling game away at Betis, where they first went up 4-0 before dropping it to 4-3 and finally scoring two more to win 6-3. They had six different goalscorers and few players with two points, but Guedes has been playing very well lately and missed out on an IF card by an inch several times, hence he should get into TOTW this week!
Mikel Vesga, Athletic Bilbao, CDM
Bilbao keeps on mixing good results with very bad ones. Before going up to Östersund and playing the Swedish fairytale-team, they needed a good result after all bad games in the recent weeks. They managed to win 1-0 over Sevilla, and the hero of the game was none less than the CDM Mikel Vesga, who should see himself in this week’s TOTW.
Gaston Pereiro, PSV, CM
PSV keeps on scoring loads of goals in the Eredivisie and if they keep going on like this, they might have a full team of IF’s within a month. This time it’s Gaston Pereiro’s turn. The former winger plays as a CM nowadays, and this weekend he crowned his performance with two goals and a place in TOTW.
Anders Christiansen, Malmö FF, CM
Malmö FF finally secured the Allsvenskan-title after winning away at Norrköping by 3-1. The best player of the league, Anders Christiansen, once again showed that he is on another level and scored one goal as well as assisting the other two and single-handedly help Malmö to win the league this weekend.
Romain Alessandrini, LA Galaxy, RM
Another weekend, another goal machine from MLS. This time it’s the rapid winger Romain Alessandrini of LA Galaxy’s turn. He scored two goals, assisted another and helped LA Galaxy win for once.
Luke Berry, Luton Town, LM
Aaaand of course there is a hattrick hero from League Two – this time it’s Luke Berry. He scored three goals from his left midfield position to help Luton Town win 7-1 and steal the first place in League Two.
STRIKERS
Iago Aspas, Celta Vigo, ST
The former Liverpool flop really enjoys the life back in Vigo. This weekend he scored a hattrick to help Celta win 5-2 at Las Palmas, and his first IF (but most probably not his least) will arrive later on today.
Gabriel Jesus, Manchester City, ST
Manchester City keeps destroying defenses in the Premier League, even though Aguero isn’t present on the field. They also have a lot of spread among their scorers, but this time only one player scored two goals, namely Gabriel Jesus. The widely appreciated striker will probably have one of the most expensive IF cards in the game, so if you pack this, you will be very happy!
Mauro Icardi, Inter, ST
Calcio A seems to approach their glory days agains with a lot of world class strikers scoring loads of goals every weekend. First out this weekend is Mauro Icardi, the captain of Inter. He scored a hattrick to help them win the Milano derby and will get a much appreciated IF card!
Ciro Immobile, Lazio, ST
One of the heroes against Juventus this weekend was Strakosha – but we also have Immobile, scoring the two goals! Immobile keeps improving for every week and seems to score almost every game. He still doesn’t have an IF card, but finally he deserved one. Beast incoming!
Mikael Duksch, Holstein Kiel, ST
Another hattrick hero from Zweite Bundesliga, and this time it isn’t a Swede. Mikael Duksch banged a hattrick for his Kiel, securing them the win and securing himself an IF card.
Nemanja Nikolic, Chicago Fire, ST
The Serbian-Hungarian striker moved from Warszawa to Chicago last winter and he has been a major impact for Chicago. This weekend he scored a hattrick and will bring the Hungarian flag back to TOTW again!
Wanderson, Gwangju, ST
One of very many Wanderson’s in the game (actually one of two in South Korea I think!) scored a hattrick for his Gwangju, hence another Brazilian striker named Wanderson will be in the TOTW.
Bafetimbi Gomis, Galatasaray, ST
Gomis has gone a long road FIFA-wise, from being a rapid beast in FIFA 12 along with Aubameyang, he nowadays is a slow poor-shooting striker in Turkey. He scored two goals this weekend to help Galatasary climb back to the top of the Super Lig and perhaps gets an IF card.
Omar Al Somah, Al-Ahli, ST
To be honest this is just a dreadful wish from my side. The biggest beast of the game scored TWO GOALS this weekend and has scored almost every week so far without getting an IF card, so please EA, MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!!!
