After a long break, it’s fiiiinally time for the tropSe flog to revive. From now on, every week this flog will be updated with news from the FIFA world. It can include reflections over gameplay, FUT content, and of course – TOTW predictions! As the title says, this week’s first flog will be just that, the very first FIFA18 TOTW prediction from us!
When predicting the TOTW, we have gone through nearly every game that has been played Friday-Monday, hence we won’t count games that are played between Tuesday-Wednesday (further into the game, extraordinary performances in these matches lead into MotM-cards). Historically, EA puts more value into matches in the top tier leagues (such as Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga), hence players from these leagues will more likely appear in the TOTW. We will keep a track
record over the predictions and hopefully we can reach a stable level where we manage to predict at least 15-16 players every week. But I won’t bother you with uninteresting text anymore, here is the predictions for TOTW3!
tropSes prediction for TOTW3!
Antonio Mirante, Bologna
The Bolognese goal keeper made a vital performance in Bologna’s away win at Genoa. He made 8 saves and kept a clean sheet to help Bologna take a very important win and increase the point gap down to the relegation line.
Ederson Moraes, Manchester City
Ederson didn’t do many saves, but played in a very stable fashion and contributed with calm and confidence to the defending line. Appointed in the Team of the Week in several English new papers, Ederson seem to be a valuable TOTW player due to his newly released OTW-card
Nacho Monreal, Arsenal, CB
The former wing back has turned into a centre bac during the last year and have mixed good performances with very awkward ones. This weekend he played very good and was the main man in Arsenal’s victory over Brighton, crowning his performance with his first goal in four years. Viva Nacho!
Ben Davies, Tottenham, LWB
Tottenham scores loads of goals, and usually they have one or two attacking players in the TOTW. This weekend they scored a lot of goals again, this time though the main man was Ben Davies. The ever-running right back assisted one goal and scored one himself, to make him another player in TOTW3-
Kalidou Koulibaly, Napoli, CB
One of the most popular players in the game, Kalidou Koulibaly, is one of EA’s favorites. He got a lot of IF’s last year and even earned himself a TOTS-card. This weekend he scored in Napoli’s 3-0 win over Cagliari, and since none of the super midgets up-front didn’t score a hattrick this time, it seems like Koulibaly could get himself his first beasty IF card on FIFA18.
Maicon, Galatasaray, CB
One of very many Brasileiro’s with the name Maicon has his resident in Istanbul and Galatasaray. In the tight game against Karabukspor he managed to score two goals to help Galatasaray win the game with 3-2 – and help himself get an IF card.
Justin Morrow, Toronto, LWB
Last week we saw Patrick Mullins smash four goals in the MLS, and this week we have another scoring machine from the league in Justin Morrow. The left wing back from Toronto were outstanding and scored a hattrick to help Toronto win the game with 4-2, being the only defender to score a hattrick this weekend he should earn himself an IF card as well.
Elsinho, Kawasaki Frontale, RB
Kawasaki Frontale are fighting for the Champion spot in J-League, and in round 28 of 34 they smashed Cerezo Osaka with 5-1. Player of the match was the Brazilian Elsinho, scoring two goals from his right back position.
Marouane Fellaini, Manchester United, CDM
Many people hate him, even more people love him. The man with the popcorn hair may not be the fastest or most technically gifted player in Premier League, but he is indeed a very good weapon in United’s attacks. He scored two goals this weekend and if he doesn’t get an IF card for that, the community will definitely freak out.
Marcelo Brozovic, Internazionale, CAM
Brozovic have some serious competition in the National team squad, competing with the likes of Modric, Rakitic and Kovacic to name a few. In Inter however, he plays a vital role in the attacking midfield, and he helped his team to win away at Benevento with 2-1 by scoring both goals and securing the victory.
Marco van Ginkel, PSV Eindhoven, CM
Most known for being a prominent Chelsea talent, van Ginkel has moved back to Holland and acts as the playing engine at PSV. Last week’s huge win was followed by another great performance from the Phillips-owned team, where van Ginkel was the key player behind the 4-0 win against Willem II.
Hakan Arslan, Sivasspor, CAM
There are usually at least three players scoring hattricks in the crazy Super Lig, but this time only one player managed to do so, namely Hakan Arslan. He was man of the match when Sivasspor defeated Antalyaspor, scoring all three goals for his team.
David Meyler, Hull, CDM
The man with many talents is not only a professional footballer, but also a decent FIFA player and streamer. He complained a lot on EA for giving him a low rating on this year’s FIFA game, but one goal and one assist in Hull’s game this weekend should help him boost his stats a bit and make it into the TOTW!
Tariqe Fosu, Charlton, CM
Usually exploting his pace on the wing, Tariqe Fosu made a shot at the central midfield position this weekend and he did pretty well. Scoring a hattrick before being subbed off, Fosu should get himself a place in this TOTW.
Neymar, Paris Saint-Germain, LW
Constantly in the spot light, Neymar keeps pulling off great performances for PSG. If he keeps playing like this, his OTW-card will have a rating at 99 before christmas, and after scoring two goals and assisting one he should at least boost his rating to 93 this weekend.
Cedric Bakambu, Villarreal, ST
Bakambu is in the best shape of his life and made another great game this weekend when scoring a hattrick and helping El Submarino Amarillo to take another win. Already three weeks into the game he will get his second IF card and become one of the most wanted strikers from La Liga.
Isco, Real Madrid, ST
Isco has played out of position for a little more than a year now. Where other players would complain, Isco has showed that he is one of the most versatile players in the world, performing very well no matter where he’s positioned. This week he tried out as a striker in Benzema’s absence. The outcome? Two goals, a 2-0 win for Real Madrid, and probably another IF card for Isco.
Andriy Yarmolenko, Borussia Dortmund, RW
The Ukrainian magician has been one of Europe’s most wanted players for several years, but he hasn’t been eager to leave his beloved Dynamo Kiev – until this summer when Dortmund asked him to replace Ousmane Dembele. So far he’s mostly been in the shadows of Aubameyang and Max Philipp, but this weekend it was his time to shine after scoring one goal and assisting another in Dortmund’s win. One of three OTW players predicted to earn a TOTW-card!
Luis Alberto, Lazio, ST
Mostly known for being a superb card in SBC’s, Luis Alberto hasn’t been much of a TOTW prospect recent FIFA’s, especially since team mates like Immobile and Milinkovic-Savic belong to the most frequent TOTW-players. This weekend he was Lazio’s best player though, scoring two goals and assisting one to keep Lazio ahead of its fiercest rivals from AS Roma.
Steven Berghuis, Feyernoord, RW
Feyernoord has had a couple of tough weeks, they lost two straight games in the league as well as having zero points and a negative goal difference at -6 in Champion’s League. This week they turned the situation around, especially with the help from its wingers. Berghuis wast he most prominent one with two goals and one assist and he will most probably get an IF card.
Sebastian Andersson, Kaiserslautern, ST
Zweite Bundesliga and Swedish strikers seems to be THE combination right now. Mikael Ishak is lethal as a viper for Nürnberg, and now he has some competition for Viking of the Season as Sebastian Andersson has geared up recently. Scoring a hattrick this weekend and being the man behind the six latest goals scored for Kaiserslautern, he is their most important player currently, which will reward him with an IF card.
Jose Sand, Atletico Lanus, ST
There has been a lot of critical hurricanes in the Atlantic area recently, and one of them, Jose the Hurricane, returned this weekend as Atletico Lanus visited Buenos Aires and Gimnasia LP. One of the game’s absolutely slowest strikers, Jose Sand, scored a hattrick, and hopefully this can help him reach a pace stat above 45 at least.
