Last week’s prediction was pretty okay, we predicted 14 of 23 players but struggled a lot, especially when it came to defensive side.
This week though, I think it’s rather clear what defenders will get an IF card. It’s a little bit harder to predict the attacking players, but we found most of them last week so our system should work this week too. Here is our prediction for TOTW6!
GOALKEEPERS
Oliver Baumann, Hoffenheim, GK
Baumann snaped a TOTS spot last year and has kept playing well this year. This weekend he almost saved all three points for Hoffenheim away at Wolfsburg, but the green machine eventually equalized in stoppage time. Baumann saved a lot of shots, including a penalty, and are a good candidate for TOTW.
Tom Müller, Hallescher FC, GK
One of the mightiest performances in a while came from 3. Bundesliga keeper Tom Müller. Not only did he save a penalty, he also SCORED the equalized in the 95th minute to bring one point back to Hallescher. As he’s only 19 years old, maybe we can expect Bayern Munchen to buy him very soon!
DEFENDERS
Aleksandar Kolarov, Roma, LB
One of Rome’s assumably most hated men (due to him playing for Lazio back in the days) hasn’t made much of an impact so far into the season. This weekend though, he scored the only goal for Roma to bring home 3 points for the capital team. Imagine the scenes if he scores in the derby later on!
Marcelo, Real Madrid, LB
On the verge of picking up a TOTY card (whenever those cards actually will be announced in the game), Marcelo played very well this weekend. Besides helping to keep a clean sheet, he also scored the crucial 3-0 goal, and his first IF card this year might come later on today!
Nuno Da Costa, Strasbourg, RB
He’s actually a striker, but nowadays he’s been placed in the defending line for Strasbourg. Obviously this doesn’t stop him from scoring goals – he scored both goals as Strasbourg won away at Nice with 2-1!
Björn Engels, Olympiakos, CB
The man with the mighty name “Björn” is a regular starter for Olympiakos who usually destroys all opponents in Hellas Liga. This weekend they struggled a bit, before Engels scored from a corner (presumably) to decide the game, 1-0.
Issa Diop, Toulouse, CB
Another defending hero from the Ligue 1, Diop scored the only goal as his Toulouse won at Angers away. A clean sheet and a goal should be enough for an IF.
Ricardo Pereira, Porto, RB
Porto won by 6-1 and had a lot of players aspiring for TOTW. Pereira is the most beast one and has scored some goals so far this season, hence I think EA will reward him with an IF card!
MIDFIELDERS
Sami Khedira, Juventus, CDM
One of my favorite players IRL, Sami Khedira, isn’t really famous for his shooting, though he shoots a lot every game. This time though he hit the net THREE times despite Juventus having a red card, and the most obvious IF card is the German model!
Nicolas Lodeiro, Seattle, CDM
Lodeiro was crucial as Seattle won by 3-0 this weekend and scored two of the goals – as CDM! Could be a nice card indeed if he reaches the TOTW!
Goncalo Guedes, Valencia, LM
Guedes has played very well so far into the season, and the only reason he hasn’t gotten any IF card yet is that there’s always been someone in Valencia being slightly better. This time he was the shining star with his two goals and one assist, and finally he gets an upgraded card!
Corentin Tolisso, Bayern München, CM
OMFG! One of my absolute favorite cards in-game might get an IF card. Tolisso scored the only goal in Bayern’s away win at Hamburg and due to him having an OTW card, I think he will get an upgrade. As his regular card is sick, I can’t even imagine how well his new card will perform. TAKE MY MONEY EA.
Josef Sural, Sparta Prag, CM
It’s a little unclear what position Sural acutally played this game since I’ve seen him reported on three different ones. No matter what, he scored all three goals for Sparta Prag which should reward him with Prag’s first IF card ever!
Edward Upson, MK Dons, CM
Though he scored three goals, MK Dons actually only managed to draw this weekend. Nevertheless, a hattrick is a hattrick, and it wouldn’t be a real TOTW without an English lower tier league hattrick hero!
Kai Havertz, Leverkusen, CAM
One of millions of super talents from Germany, Kai Havertz is already a regular starter for Leverkusen. He missed a couple of games last year due to exams, but he didn’t miss the game this weekend, instead he provided three assists for his team mates!
Marco van Ginkel, PSV, CM
I predicted him to get an IF card a couple of weeks ago but sadly, he didn’t get any. This week though I think we will see a card with a super link to IF Locadia. That could be a lethal duo!
STRIKERS
Memphis Depay, Lyon, LW
He seems to only have two gears on his gear box – absolutely worthless or absolutely outstanding. This weekend, he was the latter one, scoring a hattrick and helping Lyon to win 5-0 away. If that wasn’t enough, he scored a Panenka penalty, which alone should reward him with an IF card.
Bas Dost, Sporting CP, ST
Sadly, Bas Dost has done it again. I don’t know how many times I packed his worthless cards on FIFA17, but it seems he will get his first IF this season after scoring a hattrick. Maybe I should wait and open my WL rewards by next week instead…
Michy Batshuayi, Chelsea, ST
The social media hero usually begs about getting an IF card as soon as he touches the ball. This time though he actually scored meaningful goals, helping Chelsea back on feet after last week’s catastrophe at Crystal Palace. I believe EA’s social media manager is tired of his whining and gives him an IF card.
Glenn Murray, Brighton, ST
Brighton keeps on playing well and actually defeated West Ham away by 3-0! Two of the goals were scored by Glenn Murray, and perhaps that will be enough for TOTW.
Leroy Sané, Manchester City, LM
City keeps on scoring loads of goals, and as usual there are no clear option for TOTW. Sané has scored some goals so far without being rewarded with TOTW since the likes of Aguero, Sterling and Jesus has done the same, but this weekend he didn’t have much competition from his own team – hence he is a clear cut for TOTW!
Isaac Kiese-Thelin, Waasland-Beveren, ST
WOW! I don’t know what happened to our Swedish strikers but it seems that they actually learned how to hit the ball into the goal. This time, it was the beast Isaac Kiese-Thelin who scored four goals, becoming the highest scoring player of the week. With a slight (read MAJOR) pace upgrade he could be one of the best players in the game. Hail Isaac!
Alexander Sörloth, Midtjylland, LW
One of two players scoring four points this weekend is also Scandinavian. Sörloth was the man behind all four goals as Midtjylland won 4-2 against Horsens. Considering that his first IF card is a real beast (194 cm tall and 82 pace), this card might be the real deal. If he gets an IF card, I promise to use it as a super-sub this Weekend League!
